New Quranic Sciences textbook introduced for Islamic seminaries in Iran

A new textbook on Quranic sciences, Ulum-e Qurani, has been introduced as an official educational resource for first-level students in Islamic seminaries across Iran. Led by Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Reza Moaddab, the book covers key Quranic topics, including miracles, revelation, and interpretation methods.

AhlulBayt News Agency: A new textbook on Quranic sciences, titled Ulum-e Qurani (Quranic Sciences), has been officially introduced as an educational resource for first-level students in Islamic seminaries across Iran.

The book was unveiled during a ceremony on Saturday, June 7, with the project led by Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Reza Moaddab, who also serves as the lead editor.

Speaking at the launch event, Moaddab explained that the textbook aims to familiarize seminary students with key introductory topics related to the Quran, including Quranic miracles, the process of revelation, compilation of the text, and methods of interpretation.

“This textbook was written with contributions from nine distinguished scholars from the seminary,” Moaddab stated. He described it as one of the first collective efforts in this field, adopting an up-to-date approach based on the latest academic and interpretive perspectives.

The development process took approximately two and a half years, with each section authored by a specialist in the relevant topic. Moaddab added: “We’ve also included the views of prominent figures such as Allameh Tabatabai. No book is beyond improvement, and we hope future editions will benefit from classroom feedback.”

Hojat-ol-Islam Farhad Abbasi, Deputy for Research at the Center for Curriculum Development in the Seminary, emphasized the textbook’s significance, stating: “This will be the official source for the ‘Quranic Sciences’ course, which includes 32 hours of instruction and will be included in the curriculum for all seminaries across the country.”

Abbasi highlighted several distinguishing features of the book, including its collaborative authorship, comprehensive content, and alignment with modern educational methodologies. He noted that it offers innovative responses to contemporary questions and incorporates the latest academic findings.

The textbook is set to be taught in over 400 seminaries nationwide.
